Pastor John Davenport John M. Davenport was born in Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and completed the Master of Divinity program at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1983.
Ordained in August of 1983, he served as Associate Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, McAllen, Texas, From 1983-1988. Pastor Davenport accepted a call from the Board for Mission Services, The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, to serve as "missionary to the military", active duty chaplain, United States Air Force in July of 1988. Tours of duty followed at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (1988-1992), and Elemendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Alaska (1992-1995). Pastor Davenport completed the Basic Chaplain course, Chaplain Intermediate Course, Academic Instructor School and Squadron Officer School. His military decorations include the National Defense Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.
Pastor Davenport is married with three children. He has served Zion since January, 1996. |
Pastor Jim Craver was born in Lubbock, Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University, Austin, Texas and completed his Master of Divinity studies at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1987.
Ordained at St. Paul Lutheran, Big Spring, Texas, he served as Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church of Hampton, Nebraska from 1987 to 1992. From 1992 to 1999 Pastor Craver served King of Kings Lutheran Church of Round Rock, Texas and from 1999 to 2004 as Interim Pastor at Grace Lutheran Church of Rockdale, Texas.
Pastor Jim presently serves at Zion in the areas of Youth Ministry, Parish Education and Assimilation Ministries.
Pastor Jim is married to Diana (nee Troutman) and they have two children. Pastor Jim has been on staff with Zion since January, 2004.

Director of Christian Education and Ministry
Kurt Niebuhr graduated in 1980 from Concordia College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has served churches in Rochester, Minnesota, Gardendale, Alabama, and New Hope, Minnesota working in the areas of youth, education and music before moving to Texas in 1997. He served as the Director of Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of Houston and served Mount Olive Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran churches in Houston. He also served as Associate in Youth Ministry for the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, Texas District. Kurt is married to Becky, who is a teacher. He has three teenage children. The family is living in Walburg. |
