Did you know that LBW provides the Bible and other devotional materials in 35 languages free-of-charge to people who are blind and visually impaired? Providing the materials without cost to the recipients is made possible by the 7000 volunteers working in 200 work centers. A member who serves on the LBW board of Lutheran Braille Workers Inc. based in Ucaipa, CA., states that in a given year, LBW has sent more than 150,000 Braille volumes and 87,000 volumes of large print materials.
Work center #146 located here at Zion, has three groups of volunteers using the Braille facilities and meeting in the multi-purpose room. The day groups meets on Mondays a 1:15 PM, with the exception of the second Monday when the faith group from Faith Lutheran Church meets at the same time and place. The evening group meets on the third Thursday at 7:15PM.
Should you choose to become a volunteer in bringing Christ to Those Who Live in Darkness, you will be heartily welcomed and greatly appreciated in any one of the groups listed.

A Mission Society ... Supporting the World Mission of
the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod
...with such passion and singleness of purpose that we will pray for the
mission, fund the mission, speak for the mission and exist for the mission...
"that every knee may bow and every tongue confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD."
We are organized as an independent mission society, but one whose only relationship will be with the LCMS World Mission. "Only those projects and personnel approved by LCMS World Mission and chosen by Jesus is Lord Mission will be funded by the society."

Dinners For Eight is a small group fellowship. It is designed to get groups of 8 people together in each others homes for a meal and visiting. You get to know fellow members in each others homes on a whole different level than you do just meeting at church. This is not a gourmet diners club. Each couple brings a dish to the meal...the hosting rotates from home to home. Some groups have met in restaurants. This is up to your group to decide. You may make your own "couple" as you would like...husband and wife, 2 friends...any adults can make a "couple" for this social. You are committing to hosting an evening and attending when the others in your group host their dinner. We are allowing 6 months to complete the 4 dinners. At the end of the 6 month commitment you may sign up again and will be put into a new group. You may also decide that your schedule is too busy to be involved for the next 6 months and sit out a round, getting back in on a future kickoff.

Love Your Neighbor as Yourself - Matthew 19:19 Christian Care Connection offers Zion members the opportunity to respond to this command from Christ.
Organized in 2000 under the Stewardship Board, Zion’s Christian Care Connection is committed to reach out to others and to help them remain connected to a faith community during times of change in their lives.
Zion members are encouraged to become a member of CCC; however, membership is not required for you to participate in their various ministry opportunities. Utilizing your God-given talents means doing something as simple as making a phone call to brighten someone’s day, preparing an extra meal for the homebound or the sick, converting sermons to large print, helping to organize support groups, help with military mailings, assist with nursing home services, or volunteer to be someone’s prayer partner.
If you’d like to know more about Christian Care Connection, contact Edna Roth at eejr29@verizon.net or 512/863-6398.
Faith in Action Caregivers – Georgetown
![]()
Zion has recently become a sponsoring member of the Georgetown Faith in Action Caregivers group. Over 150 volunteers of Faith in Action Caregivers – Georgetown currently serve more than 200 Seniors (65 and over) by providing transportation to appointments, assist with grocery shopping, or by picking up prescriptions, groceries and household items for their homebound clients. Clients also welcome phone calls and take advantage of the items available from the medical equipment closet.
Volunteers establish their own limits of time and are called upon as needed. Training is provided. Zion members are now eligible to apply for services.
Two of our members, Donna Arldt (darldt@ecpi.com or 512/863-8680) and Bonnie McNemar (bmcnemar@aol.com or 868-6802), serve on the FIAC-G Board of Directors along with representatives of the eleven other supporting churches. Contact them with any questions you may have.
