The GRANDPARENTS’ DAY DINNER COMMITTEE organizes and assists with the annual PTL fundraiser held in honor of Zion's church and school families. The Grandparents’ Day Appreciation Luncheon and Art Fair is scheduled for Sunday, September 30, 2007.
Duties include:
organizing the meal
ticket sales
table set-up & tear-down
The
FALL CARNIVAL COMMITTEE organizes this costumed event, with old-fashioned,
carnival-style activities that also includes teacher “Trick or Treating”. A
PTL sponsored Chili Cook-Off rounds out this event!
The Fall Carnival is scheduled for October 26, 2007.
Duties include:
organizing classroom booths
carnival publicity
scheduling & set-up of Bouncer & Slide
costume contest
Jack-o-Lantern contest
gym set-up and tear-down
candy & prize collection
The LIBRARY COMMITTEE serves to put quality books in the hands of Zion
students each week. Our Zion
Library is staffed by volunteers whose focus is to encourage reading for fun as
well as for learning.
Library duties have been broken down into the following sub-categories:
LIBRARY OPERATIONS
schedules volunteers for classroom library times
check-in/Check-out Books
storytelling
reading promotions – sticker charts or other aids for classrooms in coordination with teachers to promote reading across the whole Dewey Decimal System
training – attend and/or lead refresher sessions on computer scanning and library operations
LIBRARY DISPLAYS
decorate Library Bulletin Board
LIBRARY DATA ENTRY
computer data-entry of new/donated books
label book spines
prepare books for covering or shelving
LIBRARY CARDS
enter new students in Database
create new Library Cards
MILESTONES & MEMORIES
create a Library Wish-List for needed books in different age-ranges
promote program to donate Wish-List books in honor of students or individuals
acknowledge acceptance of donations with thank-you & photo card

The
SCHOOL PICNIC COMMITTEE coordinates and organizes outdoor games and
activities for the annual school picnic, which also includes lunch & a PTL
-sponsored silent auction. This long-standing, annual event begins with lunch
and moves outside for fun activities that include carnival-style games & water
fun.
The end of school picnic is scheduled for Sunday, May 18, 2007.
Duties include:
organizing lunch
organizing outdoor concessions and water activities
organizing classroom booths & Bingo
table decorations and picnic publicity
set-up & tear-down in gym and outside
The TEACHER HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE supports the teachers and faculty by providing refreshments on several occasions during the school year.
Duties include:
providing teacher refreshments each Wednesday
providing a Monthly Birthday Cake for Teachers’ birthdays
organizing/Providing a potluck meal during parent/teacher conferences
organizing & Hosting the annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
