Private Schools Interscholastic Association (PSIA)

What is PSIA?

With 19 contest categories covering a wide range of disciplines, PSIA provides an exciting opportunity for private school students in grades one through eight to engage in academic competition with their peers throughout the state of Texas.  PSIA remains the most comprehensive academic extracurricular program in the nation for students in grades one through eight.

PSIA offers students motivation for learning

Through their participation in PSIA, Zion students will:
  • find new excitement in learning
  • achieve mastery
  • test their skills and knowledge
  • know the satisfaction of their best performance
  • receive recognition for academic excellence

The PSIA Mission is to inspire private, parochial, charter, and home school student achievement through academic competition.

Zion’s Involvement in PSIA

Over the years, Zion students have been involved and extremely successful in this academic competition.  During the 2010-11 school year, Zion students won the district Private Schools Interscholastic Association (PSIA) meet with twenty students qualifying for the state PSIA competition.  Four of these students finished in the top ten in the state in their respective events, with one sixth grade student finishing first in the On-Sight Drawing competition.
