Keep Zion’s Board of Missions in your prayers as they host a ministry event to the Sonterra neighborhood in Jarrell. This Sunday, August 19 from 5-7 p.m., the Mission Board is serving free hamburgers and hot dogs near the Sonterra pool as an outreach to our neighbors to the North and to share information about Zion.
Do you have interest in participating in Zion's Kenya mission trip? Plans are underway for a return mission in early January 2019. This short-term mission experience includes traveling through local villages to distribute malaria nets to those in need, engaging in door-to-door Gospel conversations with those receiving nets, making connections with local orphanages in Migori county, visiting a local Children's hospital in Migori county, and planning future work projects regarding enhancements / expansions for a local Lutheran school and congregation in the Great Rift Valley. We are seeking to continue our partnerships with Salem Lutheran and Redeemer Lutheran. If you are interested or want more information, speak with Pastor Kevin or a Mission Board member. Signup deadline for this trip is September 2! Zion Mission Board

RING! RING! RING! Are you interested in playing handbells? Zion has several octaves of beautiful handbells and we would love to hear them ring out in worship. If you would be interested in playing handbells sign up at the handbell table located in the Hallway outside the Church Nursery or contact Marc Profant for more info email@example.com
Zion is seeking a Director for the Summer Camp Program we are trying to launch in 2019. This program could contribute to the mission of sharing the Gospel with our community, increase our School enrollment, and bring in additional revenue to our church/school. All the preliminary work and research has been done, however, we need a Director in order to move forward. The Director will have the freedom to shape and design the camp program. If you or anyone you know has a desire or feels a calling to champion this program, contact Steven Cashio at the Church Office. firstname.lastname@example.org
National Youth Gathering 2019 - Every three years, The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod hosts a massive youth event open to all LCMS youth ages 14-19 from across the country. Typically, the event is attended by 35-45 thousand high school youth! This upcoming NYG is going to be in Minneapolis, Minnesota July 11-15, 2019. If you have a student interested in attending or are just gathering more information, come to the mandatory NYG Meeting: Sunday, September 9 at Noon in the Gym. Parents AND participants are required to attend this meeting. Deposit of $150 is due: Sunday, October 7. If you miss this due date, you miss the opportunity to attend NYG and will have to wait another 3 years! There is a sign-up sheet on DCE Seter’s door for those interested.
Zion’s designated offerings for August support a coalition of LCMS churches serving in Haiti through Food For The Poor. Their current project is “filling the coop!” About 15 Lutheran churches around the country, including Zion, will make financial contributions to purchase 1,000 chickens for a coop in Toirac, Haiti. The project will also ensure that there is food, medicine, and care for the chickens. This project not only provides food for families in need but also enables them to have a source of income. Sustainable projects like this help break the cycle of poverty that plagues the developing world.
